Finally got some snow so I was able to try out my new Snowcaster heavy duty pusher.
My reason for purchase is I take care of my In-laws driveway and sidewalk and they live about 2 miles away.
It’s a pain to load up the big snow blower just to go clear 2-4″ of snow however shoveling is a pain as well.
At 58 years old I’m also not getting any younger so if I can find a less strenuous way to get a task done I’m all for that.
So I was looking for a solution other than shoveling or getting a smaller more portable snow blower when my search lead me to the Snowcaster pusher.
I went with the “Heavy Duty” model as I figured bigger is better especially for only $20 more.
The snow conditions during my first use were about 3″ of very heavy wet snow.
I cleared 3 driveways all about 18′ X 40′ along with one sidewalk run of about 200′.
I’ll base this review on the 3rd driveway and 200′ sidewalk run as by that time I kind of had this unit figured out.
Not to say it’s that difficult to figure out but as with most things the more you use it the better you get with it.
If you are one that likes a clean clear outer edge to the sides of your driveway or sidewalk you’re going to need to use a shovel after you’ve cleared most of the snow with the pusher.
The pusher simply “pushes” the snow up to the edge leaving the outer perimeter somewhat undefined.
I can see how this could bother those who are kind of “anal” with their driveway and side edging.
On the driveway I simple went back with the shovel and cleaned up the edge.
As for the sidewalk, I left about a 2′-3′ clear path with an undefined edge and left it at that.
I found that with 3″ of wet snow at about a 15′ run the snow piled up too much to keep pushing.
So I simply cleared a path down the center of the 18′ wide driveway and pushed from center side to side which worked very well as that lessened the push distance to about a 7.5′ run.
Once I cleared the driveway I took my shovel, cleared off the porch steps and cleaned up the driveway edge.
For the entire 18′ X 40′ run at 3″ of heavy wet snow it took me less than 10 minutes to clear it all.
I would estimate with a shovel it would have taken me at least 20-30 minutes to clear the same area and required a lot more effort on my back and shoulders/arms.
As for the sidewalk; after about 15′ I pushed the snow to the side and then started another 15′ clean run.
I then ran the pusher back down the sidewalk and was able to clear a complete path in one pass that left a 2-3′ wide clear path.
So in conclusion; the Snowcaster appears to work as it’s advertised.
The unit seems a little “lightweight”, but by design it doesn’t take a lot of abuse so construction is likely fine.
Time will only tell just how durable it is.
I think about 3″ of wet snow is it’s limit, anymore than that you’re likely going to have to breakout the shovel or snow blower.
I think for a dry powder snow this unit would easily clear 6″ or more snow due to lack of the weight of the snow..
Since the unit pushes the snow there is little strain on your back but your shoulders/arms do get a light workout but certainly not anywhere near the back strain or shoulder/arm workout you get when shoveling.
Because it pushes the snow vs. shoveling, it does leave an undefined edge but that is easily addressed by using a shovel to simple clean up the edge.
Based on after clearing three 18′ X 40′ driveways and 200’+ of sidewalk with about 3″ of heavy wet snow, I would recommend the Snowcaster heavy duty pusher.
To me this is a great tool to add to your other snow removal equipment.

I order this and received it a day earlier than expected which was great. I can’t rate it’s performance yet as we have not had enough snow to use it. However, assembly left a lot to be desired.
To start with, the written directions are terrible. That’s not really a big issue as it is easy to find an assembly video online. Assembly requiring 3 different wrench sizes, while annoying, wasn’t a big deal for us. However, issues with the individual parts certainly was.
The blade attaches with locking nuts. Looks very easy to do on the video. However, the bolts don’t fit into the holes in the blade to enable them to lock without the use of a hammer. Also not a big deal but a bit frustrating.
That said, one of the washers for the pins that hold handle to the bracket did not fit. It would not slide over the pin at all. The other three were fine but had I not had some washers around the house I would not have been able to complete the assembly.
It looks to me like there are some quality control issues with the manufacturing of the individual parts.
For “easy” assembly you need:
A 13mm box wrench to attach the blade to the bracket. The space you have to work with isn’t big enough for an average adjustable wrench.
A 9/16 and a 3/4 socket as well as a socket wrench for each to install the wheels. Alternately you could use the same size wrenches, though adjustable wrenches should work for you here.
Additionally, having an assortment of washers around could be useful.
Overall, based on the assembly issues, I think 3 stars is a generous rating, but I felt I had to account for how fast it was delivered.

I purchased the snowcaster for clearing the frequent dusting we get during winter that doesn’t warrant use of my snowblower. My initial impression was a well made product that made clearing our driveway much easier than a regular snow shovel. After several uses I am becoming less enamored due to a couple of issues. One is the tendency of the snowcaster to flip if it hits any bit if ice or hardened snow. The blade catches and flips forward dumping whatever snow was being pushed. So not a major problem but it happens often enough to be annoying. Considering that my driveway was resurfaced before this winter I assume that if you don’t have a perfectly smooth driveway the matter would be worse. The second issue and not one that I blame on the snowcaster design is the inability to left the snow against the snowbank. Because the snowcaster is able to swivel on its axis to reverse direction, when reaching the sides of my driveway the snow rolls back into a pile. Since our weather stays cold long enough between snow storms, the snow piles up and once higher than the snowcaster blade prevents me from pushing the snow clear of the driveway. This is my first season using the snowcaster and never having used a snow pusher before a lot of this is just gaining experience. I am unsure whether a metal edge on the blade would help with the flipping problem and will continue to use the snowcaster as I search around for an alternative solution.

The item itself is good, once assembled. It makes it really easy to push snow over a large smooth surface. This cannot be the only snow removal tool for most people — Unless you have unobstructed access to a yard or open space from where you are plowing snow, you would still need a regular shovel to move the pile of snow you created. But for its designed purpose, it works really well.
However, I had a few problems before I got to the point of being able to actually use the item, which is why I’m subtracting two stars:
1) The item came with several missing washers. This was frustrating because it arrived right on the evening before a snowstorm was expected to hit. Granted, I bought an Amazon warehouse item marked as “Used – Like New”, so the missing parts might be attributed to Amazon. But…
2) I contacted the customer service about the washers and asked if they would be able to send me some. I’m quoting the reply I got from their cs rep: “I would suggest just heading to your local hardware store to purchase the washers. Otherwise, the shipping costs and time it will take to get them to you won’t be as quick. Sorry for the inconvenience.” Well, except that I could alternatively return the whole thing back to Amazon for no (monetary) cost, which would presumably cost way more to them than mailing me a few washers! For a moment I seriously thought about doing that just as a retaliation (I actually didn’t — it would have been stupid to do that). Anyways, this is definitely not what I call good customer service. If a customer bought an item with missing parts I think the company has the obligation to send them immediately at no charge.
3) Assembly wasn’t too difficult, but not super easy either. Don’t expect something similar to a piece of Ikea furniture — you need to prepare the right tools on your own and figure out the details based on a single diagram. I would say their 10 minute estimate is too low if you are doing it for the first time.

The only reason I’m giving the Snowcaster SNC70 four star is the idea works great in light snow. As for heavy snow that an 1 inch deep the Snowcaster can move it, but it takes a lot of muscle! The videos show this thing working excellent on a new or newer driveway. Driveways and sidewalks that are uneven will give you problems. If you get caught on a crack in the cement the Snowcaster will buckle or tip over. The blade is very durable, but the design of the bracket that the blade and wheels attach to should be redesigned to be metal or aluminum. If they improve the bracket, I would most definitely buy it again.

Bought my first one 3-4 years ago and thought I would have broken it by now, but whoever engineered this thing did their homework. I just ordered two more, one for backup and one for my retail store. I do the majority of my snow removal on my 20 X 50 driveway with this thing and I do it in less than 10 minutes typically. After a few snow falls I’ll bust out the snow blower and get the snow moved into my yard, and start the process again.

My neighbor has a Snocaster and I have used it dozens of times. I find it 10X easier and more effective than a plain snow shovel, so I finally decided to buy one. I’m sure mine will work great, but I have an issue with the construction of the lower frame. It was bowed where it attaches to the blade, which made a 5 minute assembly into a 20 minute assembly. Once put together, I noticed that one of the legs that attaches to the wheels was also bent, which means the wheels don’t point in the same direction. (Correct me if they are NOT supposed to point in the same direction, but my neighbor’s do.) I’m sure I will love it and it will work great anyway, but I wish Snocaster would send me a new (straight) lower frame so the unit is the way it is supposed to be, in which case I would give it 5 stars.

Easy to use. It will quickly remove from trace to 4 inches of snow from my long asphalt driveway, depending on whether the snow is light and dry or wet and heavy. Typically, it’s easier and faster than getting the snow blower out for the minor snow accumulations. No shoveling, just pushing the snow off the driveway. Quickly cleans up my large parking area too. I also use it after I finish with my snowblower to tidy things up. I gave both my sons a Snowcaster for their homes and they love it too. I was using my older Snowcaster 30SNC for about 8 years before handing it down. It’s so easy!! PS: it can only be used on asphalt or concrete driveways that are in good condition. It will not work on gravel driveways.

This snow pusher makes quick work of a driveway. We bought a house with a long cement drive and I wanted something for quick cleanup of the light snows. I even found myself using it to push snow into rows and then come back and blow it. I can literally run with this, much faster than the blower. I wish the blade was a bit more angled though, often the lighter snow goes around the forward side and doesn’t slide off to the side, so I need to move over and only take about half a pass. When the snow is right and it rolls and slides off to the side it’s great!

It assembled fairly easily if you follow the directions. I have only used it once so far on a 2-3″ snow fall from the previous night. It works rather well for our drive way, patio and sidewalks. We live on a corner so plenty of sidewalks. I spray some Dupon Ice/Snow release on it as well to assure no build up and it works good. Will have to see how many more inches of snow it can handle when it comes. I do like that it is quick, pushes the snow to the side as you go, and my back was in great shape after using it. This is a great addition to having a snowblower for light snow days and not needing the snowblower for just a few inches. :>)

You need to be aware of the limitations of the Snowcaster. If you had a foot of snow on the ground before you started to clear your driveway, this is not the tool for you. If you have a few inches on the ground, you will clear the driveway faster than you’ve ever done before with a shovel. I cleared 3 in of snow off of my wide, 60 ft long driveway and my sidewalk in under 15 minutes. And even better than that, my wife likes to use it, too.
It’s more than I wanted to spend, but after the first usage I realized it was worth it.

Works very well. I didn’t like the split ring used in assembly. But it’s an excellent tool. Did what it was supposed to do. Simplified my snow removal, made it much faster, easier.

Just bought a home in rural Maine so did some research and just received The Snowcaster. Assembly took ten minutes with a few wrenches, looking forward to see how this plows through the snow without breaking my back.

Bought another ‘heavy duty’ shovel with wheels for less money that was vastly inferior in every way. This USA designed and built unit is the answer! Look no further.

Neighbor has one of these. I used to tease him about being an old man (he isnt). I decided to get one. Price is quite steep but still purchased. This makes shoveling so much easier. takes about a quarter of the time. Not sure how well it would handle very heavy snow but for light jobs if you can walk you can shovel with this. Didnt even break a sweat the first time I used it. Well worth the money.

We just moved to Utah and had a regular shovel and took 20 mins to clean up the driveway and sidewalks. Now with the snowcaster, it takes less than 10 mins. My husband loves using it!

This is probably the best invention. It will move three inch wet snow with ease. It doesn’t hurt your back and can clear a three car garage drive way in 15 minutes or less…talk about easy. It’s so easy to use and maneuver a six year old can use it.

I have gone through multiple show shovels in the last 3 years for my corner lot and this one is so much easier and faster it is amazing. I cleared all the sidewalks around my property and driveway in 4 minutes the first time using it when I would normally take about 40min to do the same. The only thing it is not great at is cleaning up around the edges but that was very quick and easy with a regular snow shovel if I wanted to be picky. Highly Recommend

In Northern Colorado, we had rec’d about 1.5 inches of snow last night and decided to wait to clear driveway in hopes this product would arrive. Put together shortly after receiving – pusher worked great and cleared driveway in ~10 minutes. Coworker we nicknamed “Little Peter” had recommended it and he was absolutely right – great value for money.

I’ve used the Snowcaster 70SNC for many years now and have found it to one of the best tools for removing (hand-plowing) snow from hard surfaces (asphalt and concrete), if the snow is not too deep or heavy. It works best if the snow is 4” or less for light snow, 2” or less for medium heavy snow, and 1” for heavy snow. So, if I go out and “shovel” often, I’ve found I can usually get by using just this tool. And I live in northwestern lower Michigan where we can get quite a bit of snow each winter.
I have a technique that works very well. I have long driveway, so I start by going right down the middle, then work my way back and forth, creating and adding to a windrow on either side. (This way I don’t even have to flip the blade! But to not cause uneven wear, every other day I alternate the position on the blade – angling either left or right. But know that, in general, there is very little blade wear.)
If the windrow becomes large enough and/or heavy enough that I make no progress, I switch to going perpendicular to the edge of the driveway, pushing the snow to the edge in many short passes. Then, every so often, such as every third day, I use a snow scoop to move the pile-up along the edge of the driveway to several feet from the edge, making room for future snow. (Note that by using the Snowcaster and a snow scoop, I NEVER have to lift any snow – I am only ever MOVING it.)
For anything over a few inches for light snow, or any medium to heavy snow, the angle of the blade to the direction of travel is not “sharp” enough, so I have to gently “force” the blade and wheels to sharper angle. With the factory handle of the Snowcaster, it’s a bit difficult to maintain than angle. Because you are not able to push above where the most resistance is. (The center of effort is not aligned with the center of resistance.) A simple solution is to attach a dowel rod (3/4” to 1” in diameter works well) that’s as wide as the blade across the top of the handle. This allows me to hold any angle I need to with the Snowcaster. I’d love to see the company install this modification, or at least offer is at an option. ALL users will benefit from this.
